The 100 Greatest Bands of all time - #94 Devo

In the distant past of the early 70s, deep in the wilds of Kent, Ohio, began a concept called de-evolution. The proponents of this theory were a band called Devo. From 1976 to 1985, the classic line up of Gerald and Bob Casale, Bob and Mark Mothersbaugh, and Alan Myers created some of the most original and groundbreaking sounds of the period. They were pioneers of the music video form and mad scientist godfathers of synth-based new wave. Are they not Men? They are Devo.

Fantastic deconstruction of the Stones hit.

Are we not men? We are Devo.

Great song, great video. She's just the Girl U Want. This is actually my favorite Devo track. Used to great effect in the movie Tank Girl.

One of their best. Working in a Coalmine. I watched Fridays in the early 80s and I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast.

But not for me.
